Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez scored as Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 and moved into the Premier League title race.
The first Premier League game on Saturday, November 23, sees Leicester City host Chelsea. Marking a return to the old turf for Enzo Maresca.
After 15 minutes of play, Chelsea took the lead 1-0 from a poor clearance by Wout Fas. Enzo Fernandez then passed to Nicolas Jackson. Who got past Caleb Okolie in the penalty area and flicked his right foot past Hermansen into the net.
The away team’s attacking game still looked much better. In the 29th minute, they almost got their second goal. Noni Madueke controlled the left and spun to the far post. But this time Hermansen dived to save it behind.
The Blues had the ball in the back of the net in the 32nd minute. When Marc Cucurella crossed from the left for Madueke to tap in with his left foot. But Cucurella was flagged offside after that.
Leicester rarely attack all the way. In the 42nd minute. Wilfred Ndidi got a lucky break by shooting with his right foot from the edge of the penalty area. But he didn’t shoot with his full foot again.
In the second half, Chelsea missed a golden opportunity to add another goal.
In the 54th minute. Jackson’s shot was saved by Hermansen at the far post. And Palmer’s follow-up was blocked by Madueke who jumped out of the way.
In the 75th minute, the away team scored another goal to make it 2-0. Cucurella passed the ball to Jackson. Who got past Ogoli and headed the ball but Hermansen saved it. Enzo Fernandez headed the ball in from close range.
In the 90+5 stoppage time, Leicester got a penalty kick. Substitute Bobby Decordova-Reid was fouled by visiting team substitute Romeo Lavia in the penalty area. After a VAR check, home team substitute Jordan Ayew converted the penalty kick to make it 1-2.
